Jefferson Food Co-op is a 25-family food buying club operating out of the Arlington Grange on Route 126 in Whitefield, Maine, about 15 miles from Augusta, the state capital. We order from a full range of organic, natural and minimally processed grocery products, over 17,000 in all, ranging from bulk commodities and packaged goods of all kinds to dairy products, frozen entrees, fresh produce, dried fruits, beverages, snacks, personal hygiene products, vitamins and supplements, and environment-friendly household cleaning products. We also offer many products for those on gluten-free, lactose-free and other special diets.
Our distributor is United Northeast, based in Chesterfield, New Hampshire. United Northeast is a division of United Natural Foods, Inc., one of the nation's largest natural food distributors. Each month we order at wholesale prices from United Northeast's 200+ page printed catalog/pricelist. Breakdowns and order pickup take place at Uncas.
We order via an easy-to-use shopping cart directly on our web site. Case sharing is accomplished via discussion boards on our web site. We hold one annual business meeting per year, and also hold periodic potluck dinners.
We don't charge any membership fees. The only out-of-pocket expense is $18 per year for a printed monthly catalog - and if that's too rich for your blood, you can download the PDF version for free. The work requirement is minimal. All you need to join is a desire for good eating and healthy living! To get in touch and learn all the details, select Contact Us from the menu bar.
